NEW Smart Career Centre – Now It's Even Easier to Help Us Help You posted: 12/5/2008
Over the past few weeks, we here at Smart have been migrating a great deal of our software over to a newer system and while this may not appear to affect any of you directly, it does.

Our little migration project has resulted in a revamped and substantially improved "Smart Career Centre".

The Career Centre is faster, slicker and more accessible to everyone. Not only is it easier for all of you to use, it also makes it easier for us to find you once you have put yourself into our database.

That said, we encourage you all to visit and register with the new Smart Career Centre; even if you've registered before, why not use this as an ideal opportunity to re–introduce yourselves to us, upload an updated copy of your resume and make sure that we have full access to the best IT consultants available.
(If you were registered with Smart before, we recommend you do it again; because while you are still in our database, your old Smart account won't allow you to quickly apply to current openings and make updates to your profile. And don't worry about doubling up, our fancy new system will help us resolve all the duplicates.)

Smart's New Phone Number posted: 11/12/2008
It is an unavoidable fact that many, if not most, of the individuals that we deal with on a day to day basis, were forced to succumb to the technical error wrought upon us by our 3rd Party telecom providers. And for that, everyone at Smart sincerely apologizes. The good news is that those problems are now a thing of the past.

Armed with a new 416 number, everyone at Smart is ready, willing and most importantly able, to receive your phone calls. So dial-away at will.

416.650.9669 is Smart Dynamic Workforce Solutions' new local phone number.

Our old 905 numbers and our toll-free 1.877.890.8794 number are still in operation.

Repeated apologies and requests for patience have been issued, however, for good measure here is one more:
"We apologize for any inconvenience that our technical difficulties may have caused any of you. Thank you for your understanding and patience."

Smart Start Referral Program is Here posted: 04/30/2008
We've unveiled our Smart Start Referral Program, a value based, rewarded networking system that allows our friends and associates a chance to reward themselves with simple and kind gestures. By referring a qualified candidate or directing us at a potentially fruitful lead, not only are rewards earned, but as a member of Smart's network for friends, individuals are also benefiting themselves in the long run.

"You can never know too many people!"
It's a motto we live by here at Smart and we've found that it works. We regularly do what we can to ensure that our friends and acquaintances are able to benefit from the network of individuals at our disposal and it's occurred to us that by helping that network grow, our associates can benefit themselves as much as they're benefiting Smart. The financial reward doesn't hurt either.

For more details, or if you've got a friend or a company that you'd like to refer, please visit our Smart Start Referral Program page.

Shortage in IT Professionals on the Horizon posted: 03/06/2008
In early March, Statistics Canada released an Industry Employment study that indicated a serious shortage in IT Professionals looming for the near future. Fewer students have been enrolling in computer sciences since the year 2000 because of the well documented technology downturn, however, while the tech sector did experience a downturn, there is still a prosperous number of roles to be filled managing, improving and modifying the technology trends and systems that were put into place prior to the 'downturn'.

The essential understanding with these statistics is that companies requiring the expertise of IT Professionals will have a limited pool to choose from and, since the candidates will all be well aware of their demand and educated on what they should be getting compensated, that corporations will be paying a hefty premium to ensure that these roles are filled.
